Hi Gang ...

Hey, i've got a small technical question:

How exactly does one download "torrents"?

Regards,

CH.

You will have to download the u-Torrent program. Then you go to the
torrent sites which host the files, save the files to your desktop. Then
in the u-Torrent program activate the torrent.
You will have to experiment with the settings a bit. There are tutorials
on YouTube to get you started.

Older and more rare files could take weeks to download. If you
like Girls Aloud etc.are more popular, therefore
quicker to download.

Mininova is good to start with. Then move up to the PirateBay
and the like.

Ok, so a "software" program has to be downloaded which enables us to play torrent files.

Next question: Do they ever contain viruses?

Thanks,

CH.

The torrents when downloaded go to the your downloads folder or
one of your choice.
It's not like Limewire with AIDS-ridden files.
It's safe enough. I never had any problems. The best time
to grab stuff is when it is a new release.

You don't use the torrent program to play the files, you use it to download to use the torrent file to download the actual files. I would recommend Azureus 2.5 (do not get 3.0 or above) before Utorrent, but that is personal preference.

It is not, however, a personal opinion that btjunkie, mininova, and pirate bay are the best trackers, in that order; this is truth. Conspiracy Central is a tracker specializing in documentaries and pdfs.

Where have you been for the last 6 years?

Andre is actually correct about Azures being the better program. I was
just giving you an example.

I use azureus 2.5.0.4 the old version it is much more user friendly than the updated versions. U have to dig deep on a google search to find it but it is there.

I have caught a couple minor viruses but nothing major and I have used it for about 3 or 4 years.

Have only recently become interested in maybe doing torrents.

Have always been happy with MP3s.

This was what Andre suggested.

i finally got around to tracking a program down. Unfortunately the older (more reliable) tried, tested & true doesn't appear to be around anywhere.
