Pierre Grimes is the founder of the philosophical midwifery movement, which is an adaption of Socratic midwifery, and is a mode of philosophical counseling. The name Philosophical Midwifery comes from Plato’s dialogue, the Theaetetus.
In that dialogue, Socrates refers to his art as midwifery because he assists in the delivery of men who are pregnant with either true ideas or false beliefs.
Socrates calls it an art because it is the application of a knowledge that benefits the subject. It is a purely rational method of pursing questions, a dialectic, that uncovers false beliefs, traces them to their origins, and by understanding their roots and influence on one's life -- deflates their influence.
For Pierre Grimes, the exploration of the dialectic as a mode of psychotherapy was the consequence of counseling alcoholics at a rehabilitation center. As a result, he authored two articles, Alcibiades and Vinodorus, written as Socratic dialogues that presented the dialectic as a mode of psychotherapy.
He founded the Noetic Society in Huntington Beach in 1967 for the study of dialogue and the exploration of the dialectic. When the Noetic Society was incorporated in 1978, he became the Director of its Philosophical Midwifery Program, where he demonstrated and taught the art of philosophical midwifery.
Hmm-hmm! Let's keep it in English here though for the benefit of the other forumers.
Yes. Where in Norway are you? I'm Norwegian, but I've been living in HCMC (Saigon), Viet Nam since 2000. I teach English here. Yes, Norway is bad in many ways. (excellent in some other ways.) But Sweden is still worse. Sweden is the worst place I've ever been to.
I'm curious: Which things upset you the most in Norway? For me I think it's the extreme control-society and "nanny state" where absolutely every detail is surveilled/controlled by the government. And you can hardly smoke anywhere (if you wish to do so) or buy beer on a Sunday.
And then the horrible political correctness, of course. I personally am upset by the immigration issue. I am against the Norwegian (European actually) immigration policy. I'm for expelling every immigrant who breaks Norwegian law. In Viet Nam this is common sense. But in Norway....?
And then I'm of course opposed to Norway virtually being occupied by the USA/NATO military forces. Norway has no independence anymore.
Still some things are good: the space, the fresh air. Order. Welfare system. Food. Etc. I miss many things. But all-in-all I'm happier here.
Im living near Oslo, Scandinavia and espesially Norway and Sweden seems to be the perfect modelstates for the NWO. Here we dont need a policestate. (the police are not allowed to bear arms) we are so indoctrinated
and the political correctness is almost unbearable!
We police ourselfs!
But all is not lost tough, there has been an awakening the last couple of years
and i have been so lucky to hook up with some people that are truly awake!
The immigration policy is controversial yes, its most be so to hide the fact that the western population is declining!?
So you recommend Vietnam BB? Im planning a months vacation there next year. If the economy dont collapses before then

Thanks Andre, great site!
BB Norway does look beautiful, did u basicaly leave for the reasons stated above or were u just looking for adventure and wound up liking it in SE Asia? _________________ "I better walk before they make me run" rolling stones

Two reasons:
1. Destiny
2. I was a bit bored with living in Norway, and yes I was looking for adventure / a new place to live.

That Pierre Grimes is not some "New World Order" frontman. But look for yourself on youtube the 'coffee with pierre' videos. He has been calling out Bush and the goverment for years. Don't throw away the few old wise teachers onto the icepack without seeing if what they have to say for themselves. It is easy to dismiss wisdom...it is usually spoken quietly, and it's not very entertaining.
I never heard something "newagey" comming out of his mouth,
and his lectures are really good, that's why I recommended
him. But everybody just listen themselfs and make up their mind.

Hello, guardiangirl, glad you made it.
I have a hard time with the idea that anyone who speaks against things that are bad, such as the Bush regime, is to be automatically accepted as good and wise. After all, the greatest of shills are the ones who employ subtlety to the fullest; think Noam Chomsky.
Though I admittedly know precious little about this Grimes fellow, I find it utterly impossible that anyone who was not a NWO frontman would run a New Age nonprofit with people such as Michael Lerner, Deepak Chopra, and Maurice Strong on it's "international advisory board". The suggestion that someone could be directly tied to men such as this, and also be "wise and good" is totally ridiculous. No one who was not a psychopath would have anything to do with any of these evil, demented characters.
