I've recently switched from a $30/week carton of Marlboro's habit to rolling my own using a Premium Supermatic machine and Drum/American Spirit blend with a little bit of pipe tobacco thrown in for the aroma it gives. Basically, I'm smoking cigarettes that are twice as tasty and half the price.

I can roll up an entire packs worth by the time it takes a pot of coffee to brew. There's just no way I'll ever go back to buying them by the carton anymore.

Anybody else roll their own? I'd have to recommend it as a great way to enhance your smoking experience and cut costs at the same time. The machine costs $60 but mine paid for itself within the first month. Plus, now when I smoke a Marlboro, I notice a certain taste... kinda like fuel or something... that I didn't notice before.

What are the symptoms that you notice? I used to suspect that it was sapping my energy levels but then I quit for 6months last year and that lethargy never went away.

Just curious if the poison is something you notice in yourself and others or if it's from data that you've read. Personally, the smokers I know are among the most free thinking people that I know.

Right on. That American Spirit is good stuff. I like the machines because I can get those little empty filter tubes and roll (inject, actually) up a pack at a time. I cost for the tube makes up for the amount of tobacco that I'd throw away in the 'roach' of a rolled cigarette.

(Oh, hey man, that other post about the mood swings was supposed to be dry humor that was actually a projection of my own game instead of a comment on yours. Sorry it came across as rude.)

I prefer to roll my own, but since I moved out of the city, the only kind of rolling tobacco I can get is Bugler, which I hate. So I just smoke Winston's, though they are supposedly doing away with the soft pack, which will probably make my angry enough to start smoking something else.

What kind of rolling machine cost you 60$? And why a rolling machine? Rolling is an acquired skill, but when you're dependent on that skill in order to smoke, you usually acquire it pretty quickly.

Bytheby, BB already had a thread on this subject, I think, because I remember posting this:

One like this cost me about $60 after taxes. A carton of the empty tubes costs $2 and a 5oz can of Drum costs me about $9.

I used to roll 'em (really roll them) a few years ago and got pretty good at it. Although, I could never roll them into the trumpet shapes with the little cardboard filter twisted into them like the Europeans do when they roll a joint. But mine held together and hit good, I rolled them kind of loose.

Since I got my machine, I've started mixing up different blends and it's really added to the smoking experience. They taste better, to me, and they don't stink up my car or clothes as much due to the little pinch of pipe tobacco.

I'm so happy I have quit now.

Like Jenkem hinted: most tobacco is full of pesticides and really bad chemicals. And even "pure" tobacco has its problems.

Wellwell, smoke and be happy.

I used Alan Carr's book to quit too last year. I didn't so much relapse as I did make a deliberate decision to start back in 6 months if I felt like it. And I did feel like it when that day rolled around.

Coffee and cigarettes makes me happy happy happy.

I remember you said that in your previous life too. (We both died of lung cancer in the Irish-Norwegian hospital).

The smoking boots were crucial for the smoking ceremony.

Is ok, I got a lot of anger in me. Hard not to with all the shit in the world.

Not that it swings much, is kinda constant.

American Spirit!

Also enjoy cigarillos every now and then.

In Japan I smoked Parliament Recessed filters, Lark, Casters and Mild7s.

Canadian tobacco is sick toxic shit but oh well. So is Canadian air these days.

Have any tobacco smokers ever tried to grow their own tobacco? Depending on where you live, you can get a pretty good yield and save a lot of $$$.

http://www.rusticgirls.com/gardening/growing-tobacco.html

Also for approx 1- 200 $ you can get yourself a nice indoor set up with metal hilide lamps and the works and grow your own indoors. I bet it could grow quite well hydroponically and they now have organic hydroponic ferts, or you can make your own.

I think it would be fullfilling, bennificial, money saving and probably even healthier if anyone attempted to try this.

I just started growing indoor herbs (Tons of edible and medicinal herbs, my favorite being Lavender and basil) in old fish aquariums. I don't like using the electricity, but until I decide to really "go", I guess I'll use a little juice before I leave.

Heck I already have the equipment, maybe I'll give tobacco a go and mail some out to you guys if it works out.
